Peter Heine Nielsen - born i 1973 - was by far the biggest talent in Denmark in his generation. He became GM at the age of 21 in 1994.

Peter Heine has been Danish champion three times: 1996, 1999 og latest this year, winning the championship half a point clear of one of the other participants in this years North Sea Cup: Lars Schandorff.

He has for several years played in the German Bundesliga for Wattenscheid, where the Danish players can meet some of the worlds strongest GM's.
